I’m sure Germans felt the same way until Hitler came into the regime. The problem with this is we never think it can happen to us. Well mr. hanks I’m sorry, I don’t t have the same faith in the American people as you do. My father and all of my uncles fought in the Vietnam war. Once again, a bit of American propaganda, just to make sure we don't forget who supposedly saved us in World War II, which is not true at all. World War II was won on the greatest front in history. The Germans lost WWII at the Battle of Stalingrad, in the clashes that took place from August 23, 1942, to February 2, 1943, where the majority of the powerful German Sixth Army surrendered, including 22 generals. Nineteen months prior, the largest invasion force assembled on planet Earth attacked Russia across a 1,000-mile (1,609 km) long front. Three million German soldiers, 7,500 artillery units, 19 panzer divisions with 3,000 tanks, and 2,500 aircraft rolled over Russia for 14 months. By June 1944, three years later, very little remained of this force. The Red Army chewed them up. When the so-called "allies" (a term that clearly excludes Russia) landed in France, there was little resistance. The best forces that Hitler had left were on the Russian front, which was collapsing day by day, as the Red Army approached Berlin. The Red Army won the war against Germany. The Americans and the British arrived when the Wehrmacht was exhausted and could offer little resistance. Joseph Stalin believed that Washington and London stayed out of the war until the last minute, leaving Russia with the burden of defeating the Germans!
So sad that the memory of D day and a pleasant conversation about it had to have the caption "if worried about a Trump presidency". Can't we celebrate the triumph of sacrifice, and not make it about today's political divides? The interview was doing so well, and the comments by Hanks rather insightful, then Interviewer had to ask a question that had nothing to do with interview, just so it could be the headline. CNN just wants to sell drama, cause they Believe true history isn't enough to get people to want to watch. That is sad for CNN, but also true for people that take the bait.

America never joined onto the battle until they were attacked on their homeland. Many countries were fighting for a few years before any Americans got involved. Canada, Newfoundland, Australia, all of Europe and many other countries were fighting the axis countries without help from the USA and lost very many sons and brothers. The American military did join in and help with the defeat of the evil axis countries which helped the allies in preventing the loss of many more of our troops. It took a concerted effort come through as victors and make the world a safer place for all.
