Title: New Dietary Guidelines Unveiled by Indian Council of Medical Research: Emphasis on Whole Grains, Pulses, and Fruits
In a recent development, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has released new dietary guidelines, aiming to promote a healthier lifestyle and combat the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in India. The new guidelines emphasize the consumption of whole grains, pulses, fruits, and vegetables, while limiting the intake of processed foods, sugars, and salt.
The ICMR's recommendations are in line with global dietary trends, which stress the importance of a balanced diet rich in nutrients for maintaining overall health. The new guidelines also acknowledge the cultural diversity of India, suggesting modifications to suit regional preferences while ensuring nutritional adequacy.
The ICMR advises consuming at least 500 grams of fruits and vegetables daily, with a focus on seasonal produce. Whole grains, such as brown rice and whole wheat, are encouraged to replace refined grains, contributing to a daily intake of 6-7 servings. Pulses, a staple in Indian cuisine, are recommended as a primary source of protein, with a minimum consumption of 100 grams per day.
The guidelines also address the need for adequate calcium intake, particularly for women and children, suggesting dairy products, leafy greens, and fortified foods as viable options. Furthermore, they emphasize the importance of maintaining a balanced energy intake, encouraging regular physical activity, and limiting the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, processed meats, and trans fats.
The new dietary guidelines come at a critical juncture, as India grapples with the burden of NCDs, which account for approximately 61% of all deaths in the country. By promoting a healthier diet, the ICMR hopes to contribute to the prevention and management of these diseases, ultimately improving the health and well-being of the Indian population.
In conclusion, the ICMR's new dietary guidelines provide a comprehensive roadmap for a healthier India, focusing on the consumption of whole grains, pulses, fruits, and vegetables, while limiting the intake of processed foods. By adhering to these guidelines, Indians can take a

Such news contents need to be shown . This is what we want. Fed up with garbage debates on useless topics.
FRAUD ALAERT. There is no such thing called 'one ideal Indian diet'.
As per Indian science of Ayurveda, there are few "health types". It is a framework. As per that, the ideal food is the one that "brings back balance" to health from its drift (Thri doshas balance).
Eat beef . . . simple. . .
Interpreting dietary guidelines by non specialists is always problematical. Especially when these guidelines require you to read the fine print. The plate represents total meals for the day. NOT per meal. It would have been better to give cooked volume of cereals and dhal, instead of dry weight.
I just put pizza rolls in the oven 😢
❤
Your bank balance should look like this $110mn
Palki read what Ellen Gold White has written in most of her books like healthy living she talked about these things over a 100 years ago

Honestly india must upgrade the food safest , starting from the way food is being produced in the farms ( pesticides & excessif chemicals use 😊 😊 ), otherwise our healthy is on blink of extinction
What would be monthly expense for ideal Indian diet per person??
Thumb Rule: Eat anything & everything, but eat it from your Kitchen.
Having Premium Quality Groceries at home is far more important than wearing branded clothes; try to source the best ingredients from wherever within India.

But miss palki sharma can you switch into Hindi so that this wonderful information and great journalism by you will not only spread between elite class of india but also for major population of india
In Tamil cuisine on a daily basis this is already covered. Only the nuts fruits and seeds are left out. We have a lentils filled sambar and rasam. Rice. And two different types of vegetables. Curd/Buttermilk. The tempering includes coconut oil or sesame oil. The protien is covered by lentils/eggs/meat. Lacto based Vegetarians get it from lentils. Ppl who eat just eggs get it from lentils and eggs and non vegetarians get it from al sources. Also this diet is still wrong. Fish?? It contains very important amino acids, especially for eyes. Sure you can get it from plan based too but if you are including meat on the chart include the fish too. Fish is not considered as animal meat as it comes under seafood. Pescatarian diet. Unlike typical North Indian cuisine with panneer butter masala or other heavy cream based butter based dishes, which are usually in hotels, South cuisine is not heavy in it. Unless you go to hotel. Greasy palmoil is used for our cuisine and I would not recommend eating outside for this reason. North heavy cuisine is good now and then. But their traditional regular home cooking is not that heavy either. Just a simple sabji dal and roti raita also covers just like South meals do. The fruit cereal nuts and seeds are all expensive. Cannot afford regularly. As for coffee and tea, it's because of habit. So don't develop that habit.
Don’t worry, i was worried as well so I tried different diets and studied diets to find indian diet is very good. Only things you need to add is fiber by eating veggies and reducing sugar.

Central and state government should be blamed. Except vote politics, there's no governance. People Priorities should be set and worked upon.
How such things are happening in India? Is it because personnel are lazy or corrupt or both ? Need an investigation on this.👍
Whatever we eat today is perfectly OK. Only thing that PHARMA LOBBY promoting their products. Bullshit narratives.
Palki, you are deviating from your usual retorics which earned goodwill to you. Do not jump on each and everything copying others.
Stop taking packed foods like biscuits, ketchup, cornflakes, jam, bread, cold drinks, lassi, cakes, bakery items, namkeens, sweets, chocolates. Eat healthy home cooked fresh foods and get natural protein from diet.
If you are healthy then you are the wealthy 👊👊
