Ah, the allure of Old Hollywood, where stars wore an innocent veneer like a glamorous mask. But as we peel back the layers, …
Title: Unveiling Hollywood's Golden Age: Debunking 30 Persistent Myths in the Modern Era
In the glamorous world of Hollywood, the Golden Age, spanning the 1930s to the 1960s, is a period shrouded in myths and misconceptions. As we delve into the present day, it's crucial to separate fact from fiction, especially when these stories continue to persist. Here are 30 notorious rumors from the Golden Age of Hollywood, verified and debunked for the modern audience.
1. Marilyn Monroe was a 'dumb blonde': Contrary to popular belief, Monroe was a highly intelligent woman with a strong academic background.
2. Judy Garland's 'Wizard of Oz' performance was a result of drug use: While Garland struggled with addiction later in life, there is no evidence to suggest she was under the influence during the filming of 'The Wizard of Oz'.
3. Humphrey Bogart was a loner: Bogart was known for his tough-guy image, but he was actually a devoted family man and a close friend to many in the industry.
4. Clark Gable was a womanizer: While Gable was known for his romantic liaisons, many of these stories were exaggerated or fabricated.
5. Elizabeth Taylor was a 'difficult' actress: Taylor was known for her strong personality, but she was also a dedicated professional who often worked under challenging conditions.
6. James Dean was gay: While Dean's sexuality remains a topic of debate, there is no concrete evidence to support the claim that he was gay.
7. The Motion Picture Production Code (Hays Code) was a strict moral code: The Hays Code was more of a set of guidelines than an enforceable law, and many films during the Golden Age pushed the boundaries of what was considered acceptable.
8. The Hollywood Blacklist was a government-led witch hunt: The Hollywood Blacklist was largely a self-regulating effort by the film industry to avoid political controversy.
9. Orson Welles' 'Citizen Kane' was a documentary: 'Citizen Kane' is a fictional film, despite its documentary-like style.
10. John Wayne was

Props to Francis Farmer and Tippi Hedren for bucking the Hollywood trash.
I get so tired of hearing the rumour about Joan doing porn. There is ZERO proof or reliable information about her actually appearing in such a film. Mayer had the blackmailer provide a copy of the so called porn which he determined was NOT Joan.
The biggest Hollywood Rumours is this horse shit channel. His audience knows the answers. Don't bother to read. Lies and blunders.
Maureen O’Hara is not “best remembered” for Miracle on 34th Street ; she made many other memorable movies, including The Quiet Man with John Wayne.
I always liked Frances Farmer…another actress with a tragic time on this earth!!!
Jean Harlow was literally Marylins inspiration and idol
Why the HELL are you using RANDOM caps to TITLE your VIDEO? #fearmonger #YouTubestressbait
Not liking all the commercials
Generally speaking, "Old Hollywood" is 1913-1948. These are way off. Your pullig stars much more current than that. Your title should reflect the content.
When Marilyn Monroe was singing Happy Birthday, I knew even at a young age that she was jacked up with something.
Re chaplin he had pediophille behaviour he was in relationships with much younger children than stated here. Was not the fame that went to his head but his personality
Re Natalie Wood; using the line ' mother taught her not to rock the boat' is cruely used considering her cause of death. More consideration needed here.
Either/either could share my eiderdown!😃
0.28;were we supposed to understand that gobbledegook?!?
Hollywood was always evil.
I've never heard anyone call Marilyn's career "meteoric"😅
Missy was Barbara Stanwyck's nickname.
Full of holes.
Don't waste your time watching this.
MGM was run by some real scumbags…kind of ironic how the old studio resembles a plantation…
Military…Hollywood..Religion..Politics….in structures with power, theres *always* some weird shit going on…always
That Charles Laughton gossip is stomach churning.🤢
Maybe I missed it, but who gets mandatory bed rest for a C-section? I had my child in 2011 via C-section. Within 24 hours of it, I was gotten up and walking. Everyone else I know who have had them were not give bed rest. I had extensive cancer surgery in 2020 and within two days they were getting me up. So I guess I am just confused on why a C-section would require bed rest. No, I couldn't go up and down stairs for the first several weeks, but that was due to not wanting that incision to open. Maybe I missed the part on why bed rest was required. 🤔
As far as the care of the child and such, yes, most times it will still fall to the mother to do things. The only reason why I couldn't after my cancer surgery was because I had lot of healing in my left arm from where that took a bone and tissue graft in an attempt to reconstruct the right side of my jaw and when I went through chemo and radiation, I got really sick so could barely get up each day let alone do housework. However, I did what I could. And after I felt better once treatments were done, I did a little more every day. Take things slow and do what you can.
Marilyn Monroe was so beautiful and so was Judy Garland and all the other pretty girls!
The fake film scratches and dropouts are distracting, unnecessary and unprofessional.
So Charles Lawton liked men to poop on a sandwich?
Apart from your reprehensible and unacceptable decision to refer to an 11 year old Joan Crawford's sexual abuse by her step-father as 'being involved with', your segment is ridden with factual errors. Marion Davies was Hearst's mistress not wife, and you must be the only people on earth who don't know that Loretta Young was NOT in Gone With the Wind! You go to extreme lengths to absolve Hearst of Ince's murder
his vast yellow journalism newspaper empire made sure that Ince's murder would be buried forever, and Ince's widow was taken care of for the rest of her lifebut you have no qualms repeating fake stories about Laughton as if there were truths.I think what mean for Joan Crawford is that she was abused by her stepfather- not involved with him at age 11. This is what is called a crime.
i hate robert wagner
Forgot About, Mae West!!!!!!!!!!
Jerry Lee Lewis was a lot of things but he wasn’t Hollywood
And you probably should have mentioned the murder of William Desmond Taylor
I don’t know why we watch these mini bios. Much of this info is not true!!!
Geesh, I learned more from the comments than from the video itself!
Clark Gable daughter was image off him 😮how wrong cruel of Clark to not know her support her as her father 😢💔😤
Loretta Young was assaulted by Clark Game. It wasn't during Gone with the Wind either.
Billie Cassin was sexually abused as a child by her step father at about 11 yrs of age.
Joan never liked to talk much at all about her past.
So nothing has changed, Hollywood was, and still is full of narcissists, degenerates and pedophiles.
Not much has changed. Agent Orange 45 promised Stormy a part in The Apprentice in return for the out-of-wedlock tryst with a notoriously mushroom blast that lasted seconds and cost taxpayers millions.
Hollywood is rotten to the core.
So many of these are not rumors.
Jean Harlow couldn’t have had a clause in her contract not to marry, as the studio made her marry her third husband.
this entire presentation was disappointing… since one of the biggest Hollywood scandals was Not even touched on…
the Fatty Arbuckle… Virginia Rappe incident of Labor Day… 1921.. that sent Fatty's career practically spiraling into oblivion.. 3 court trials.. with hung juries…
it is one of the darkest stories in the history of Hollywood and it is not even mentioned…
