Title: ICJ Orders Israel to Halt Rafah Crossing Operations: Implications for Middle East Peace Process

In a significant development, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Israel to halt its operations at the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. This ruling, delivered on July 16, 2021, is a response to a case filed by the Palestinian Authority in 2004, making it one of the longest-running cases in the ICJ's history.

The ICJ's decision is a new milestone in the long-standing conflict between Israel and Palestine. The court ruled that Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip, which includes the closure of the Rafah crossing, is in violation of international law. This ruling comes at a critical time, as the Middle East peace process remains stagnant, and tensions between Israel and Palestine continue to escalate.

The ICJ's decision is not legally binding, as the court does not have the power to enforce its rulings. However, it carries significant moral and political weight. The ruling could potentially pressure Israel to reconsider its policies towards the Gaza Strip and could influence international opinion regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The ICJ's decision also highlights the ongoing struggle for Palestinian self-determination and the international community's role in upholding international law. The ruling underscores the need for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the importance of respecting human rights and international law.

In conclusion, the ICJ's decision to order Israel to halt its operations at the Rafah crossing is a significant development in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While the ruling is not legally binding, it carries significant moral and political weight and could potentially influence international opinion and Israel's policies towards the Gaza Strip. The ruling underscores the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and the importance of respecting human rights and international law.

  • wht are we ignoring the fact that britain started all of this?

  • No u guys are all hypocrites. Look at all the major wars of the last two decades. Who started them? Where do today’s immigrants come from? I’ll tell you Libya!!! What did nato do to Libya? The country has fallen apart but whoes sitting on the old fields. Syria another one. Whoes got the basis on the oil fields? Iraq. Seriously you need a criminal court to tell you what’s wrong? Seriously. How dense do you think the public is.

  • NGO's are utterly biased having been totally captured by woke progressives. Can't trust a word they say.

  • The west and humanitarian values are a joke..

  • Whilst i dont support isreal. What authrority does the icc have to halt any military action. Dont they have the same amount of authority as any random geeza. They arent apart of the un and plenty of nation's including isreal arent member states and thus how do they have authority orher israal. Its like the eu claiminf authority other kenya military action

(Of note i do agree isreal military actions have been horrific and war crimes)

  • Exactly “what does that say about us” it just shows the hypocrisy in the west and Europe

  • I think he just tried to argue that human rights, the law that protects all humans, should be applied differently depending on who breaches them? Impartiality is a thing…

  • Saudi yemem and palestine. Hes looking for false comparisons. Israehell gets a free pass do whatever due to being jewish and holding everyone hostage. Lbc trying hard

  • The caller is absolutely spot on! How refreshing to hear, especially when the host tries deflect and distract, he maintains his point that everyone, regardless of who they are, should be held to the same standard! The world is waking up to the double standard of the ruling classes/government's!

  • Saudi didn’t steal Yemen, so there is no comparison, Israel is killing the very people that it stole from in the first place, the Palestinians will never stop fighting for their homes Free Palestine

  • The UK government is not just allowing these atrocities to happen but instead they are actually complicit and that even worse

  • The host tried to generalise the exceptionalism that Israel enjoys. We have never questioned well established humanitarian driven organisations before.

  • Biased presenters . All of western media has this strange problem .

  • Ben is not honest! He likes to put an argument for Israel!

  • When the rules based orfer came in to replace international law

  • The presenter trying to deflect by generalisation 😂 no it's not about "real politics" and western allies.. This treatment (by western media and people like you) of Israel is unique! I wonder why 🤔

Plus Saudi Arabia, because you mentioned, is treated badly in the western media.. For example still 20 years for world Cup but the Guardian already started its hate compaign against that country.. As they did before with Qatar.
Plus the caller said the western media and politicians have never questioned the decision of the international court except.. As they are doing now when the offender is Israel.. The international criminal court didn't issue any ruling against Saudi Arabia! So I don't know when you bring it into the discussion?

Everyone with one gram of brain knows why!

  • He sounds like a nice bloke, but how can you think you are informed when you don't know what the Saudis did in Yemen. Selective outrage 😢 is so depressing

  • To discuss “human rights” violations & not have the U.S.A. at the center of attention on the topic is journalistic negligence at the highest possible level. Idc who the topic began with. (Think about when you were young & were sent home from school for fighting. Although you’re in trouble with mum & dad regardless, you were always asked the same question. “Who started it?”) Its fundament really. If you don’t identify the source of a cancer then you’ll certainly never cure it.
