Title: Stratbase ADR Proposes Policy Recommendations for West Philippine Sea Amid Escalating Tensions

In the midst of intensifying disputes over the West Philippine Sea, a prominent think tank, Stratbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies, has released a policy paper offering recommendations to address the escalating tensions. The document, titled 'Headstart: West Philippine Sea Policy Options for the Duterte Administration', provides a concise yet comprehensive analysis of the issue, offering insights that are both timely and relevant.

The report emphasizes the need for a proactive and assertive approach to protect the country's sovereignty in the disputed waters. It suggests strengthening the Philippines' diplomatic and legal efforts, including the pursuit of arbitration cases and the enhancement of international alliances.

Moreover, the think tank proposes the establishment of a National Maritime Strategy to guide the government's actions in the West Philippine Sea. This strategy would encompass various aspects, such as maritime security, resource management, and infrastructure development.

The policy paper also underscores the importance of domestic reforms to ensure the effective implementation of the country's policies in the West Philippine Sea. This includes improving the capacity of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and enhancing the coordination between government agencies involved in maritime issues.

While the recommendations are not new per se, the timing of their release and the authoritative voice of Stratbase ADR make them particularly significant. As tensions continue to rise in the West Philippine Sea, the policy paper serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, providing a roadmap for navigating the complex challenges ahead.

In conclusion, the Stratbase ADR Institute for Strategic and International Studies' policy paper offers a timely and relevant analysis of the West Philippine Sea issue, providing actionable recommendations for the Duterte Administration. As the Philippines grapples with escalating tensions in the disputed waters, the report serves as a valuable guide for policymakers seeking to protect the country's sovereignty and interests.

  • Without our allies like the USA,etc. , etc. , China’s behavior will be worse.

  • If you look at the assesment by chinese own channels such as china – insight/observer, ther views is favorable to the philippines in that philippines is giving china headaches and frustrations, which is why we need to soldier on and not be afraid of chinese bullying and intimidation. China the nation is made up of people too, and they too can be subjected to stress and wear and tear. Sooner or later china will shift to low gear and want to talk. Sure it will get worst tough first but it will eventually settle down which is why we should not be intimidated and not be afraid if china's bullying. We need to stay the coarse and show our resolved.

  • Unfortunately, the mainstream media HAS NOT HELPED with this effort. only the pro-PBBM vloggers are working hard to ensure the masses are AWARE of what PBBM has been doing FOR THE GOOD OF THIS COUNTRY.

ANC has for the first few months of PBBM's term, being more of a distraction, even hindrance to his vision for the Philippines.

  • It is drug-fuelled insanity for Marcos to sacrifice the main Philippine territory and population just to "protect" tiny rocks inhabited by birds in the middle of the sea. Even US said it will not defend the Philipines in this madness.

  • Yes that's the reality however ph leaders are still in Lala land. Di nila matanggap kasi sayang daw ang profit from tsekwa economy. Lalo na yung isang kakaupo lang as leader, still dreaming on the issue.

  • The 2016 Arbitral Decision is illegal and void . China was justified in not participating in the proceeding. It is in China's best interest to have a safe and free navigation in the South China Sea, since most of its trade uses this area. Mr. Manhit is imagining a non-existent problem. Another biased reporting by ANC.

  • And do not elect a president who is Pro China next Pres Election.

  • DUTERTE IS COWARD CLOWN AND PRO CHINA, PEOPLE WAKE UP STOP PROTECTING AND DON'T VOTE FOR DUDIRTY ANYMORE OTHERWISE WE'RE GOING TO END UP A PROVINCE OF CHINA.

  • The worst thing that will happen is to have a Philippine President and Local Government Units , Governors, Mayors down to Barangay Captains up to Congressmen, Senators who are under a Communist China Political party and funds. The present administration must ensure that Democracy is still alive in our country. Because what we have observe now is that communist china is trying to control our political system by financing corrupt politicians or maybe embedded pure Chinese individuals into our political system by bribing government workers to work , process their papers to become a fake Filipino citizen and join our local government units to control uninform, innocent citizens by guving money, projects, jobs but hide their ultimate goal to slowly invade the Philippines.
