Introduction
Welcome back, Homestar Runner fans! Today, we delve into the world of Strong Bad Email with episode #118 titled “Virus.” In this episode, Strong Bad receives an email allegedly containing a computer virus, but as always, humor and absurdity take center stage.
Plot Summary
The email, sent by Dave, warns Strong Bad about an email virus called “The Da Vinci Code.” Upon opening the attachment, Strong Bad’s computer becomes infected with a series of comical and nonsensical symptoms.
The Da Vinci Code Virus
The so-called “Da Vinci Code” virus transforms Strong Bad’s computer into various iconic art pieces from the history of Western art, ranging from the Mona Lisa, to The Last Supper, to Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling.
Cybersecurity Jokes
As one might expect, the joke in this episode hinges on the trivial things that Strong Bad tries in an attempt to rid his computer of the imaginary virus. These include calling an “Internet Hotline,” using his toaster to “fry the virus,” and even trying to shake the virus out of his computer.
A Deleted Email Scene
In a deleted scene, Bubs is seen offering a series of password recovery services, ending with the offer: “You can call me anytime, day or night! Just set your DVR!”
Conclusion
Once again, Strong Bad Email provides a delightful mix of humor, absurdity, and comical takes on everyday tech problems. The episode may not teach us much about actual cybersecurity, but it’s certainly entertaining and a fun way to pass the time!

The email begins with Strong Bad receiving a virus-laden email from Coach Z, a character notorious for his technological ineptitude. This simple premise serves as a starting point for a series of hilarious exchanges, as Strong Bad struggles to clean his computer and regain control of his digital life. While the humor is undeniably entertaining, the underlying message is far more profound.

The part where homestar shows up as a bunch of popups, this part actually causes a real pop up to appear while watching it, my mom thought that it was an actual virus but i tried to explain to her that it was just a joke
Okay who is here during the Crowdstrike incident of July 2024?
Not long ago i caught a corviknight in pokemon shield and without thinking, named him edgar because he was a giant raven. Now every time i pull him out in battle I instinctively say “Alright edgar, now drop a train on em!”
2:39 appeared on one of the Spongebob YouTube Poop
YOU KILLED MY BROTHER!! …..I mean computer….. YOU ALL UNDERSTAND!!! ….I mean don’t understand…..
Destruction
This was my world in the 2000s. I forgot so much. 😢 Let's all meet at the stick for some refreshments.
I have incorporated "Drop a train on 'em" into my speech patterns, normally when I'm about to play a big turn in a board game.
Who’s here 7/19/2024 for the Microsoft outage?
Yay for Ruffle! I can watch the original flash version replete with easter eggs again.
Definitely doesn't hit the same with the youtube video format, curious if that site still exists
this is the only email where watching the flash version is the only real way to watch it
I CAN SPELL YOU
Thanks to this I say "computer over?! virus equals very yes?! That's not a very good price" whenever I run into technical problems
I can't even say how many times I watched this one back on the old site, back when Flash was still around. Seeing how it pretty much broke the fourth wall had to be experienced firsthand to be believed.
It also came with the only pop-up I would willingly allow to have show up on my computer, more or less.
Shame this upload doesn't come with the easter egg at the end, though.
The Trogdor, Virus, and Caffeine emails are the ones I remember the most!
What’s funny is that at the time this email came out there was no where close to 400,000 computer viruses that existed
This is my #1 favorite Strong Bad e-mail! I remember all the words to this very day! LOL!
Edgar's brother Sabin was actually the guy who dropped trains on peoples…
I remember trying to stifle my laughter on the library computer watching this the week it came out, great memories. "I can't spell you!!"
The virus in the Homestar Runner universe is full of fourth wall breaks and in-jokes.
I remember watching this episode and being completely mindblown. I love meta/4th wall breaking stuff like this.
Current mood: bourgeoisie always makes me laugh.
i can't believe this one is 20 years old
(by that i mean the original sbemail not this video before someone corrects me)
