honestly i personally dont even care anymore, i have a 3700u, which is zen+ and is still more than fast enough for 90% of things people actually do.
So this new series won’t benefit desktops? I am currently buying 7800x3d and just saw this so I was wondering if I should just wait for this for half a month?
what is the difference between 7840hs vs 8840hs for laptop. Should I wait for 8840hs or go with last generation.
Great video. I was researching the Ryzen 9 8945HS and came across your explanation of the model numbering and essentially a marketing scam by AMD, in this case, but they all do it and all because generally people see a bigger number they automatically thinks its got to be better. Thank you for this eye opener.

I wonder if we will get a new mobile x3d chip if we don't i hope that will well get more laptops with the Ryzen 9xd3 not only the asus 17
I heard they have something like big-little cores (efficient+powerful) is that true?
No performance gain in this cpu and it is next generation wow
omg a NPU, cmon. Just give me a GPU with no gpu or npu.
So better wait for the 7000 series getting some PERMANENT? price drops once these are released?..
lol the first time I heard about the decoder ring I thought someone was just making a joke. It just blew my mind that it’s real 😮
Cpu's are being mafe more efficient for client side scanning.
the CPU market has been so frustrating… you have the parked core issue on the AMD desktop CPUs and the lack of upgrade path on intel side. Now we aren't getting any updates on the mobile side either and the ultra core 7 was sort of underwhelming too… what is one to do who needs a new laptop in 2024? I need a replacement for a 2015 macbook (the fanless ultra portable one). I like the zenbook and I was considering waiting for AMD but not after seeing this… I could get a 2023 zenbook but you can only get 32gigs of RAM with an i9 which I don't want… I want an i7 or R7 with 32gigs of RAM and 1TB and that doesn't exist. So I guess I'm stuck with the ultra 7 2024 model…. gahhh
For reference, that decoder is a circular slide rule, which has existed in many forms and for many functions for centuries.
Think u just confirmed for me to get intel. I was curious on its workstation ability… probably very similar. Intel is winning here. Yeah sure 7800x3d is good, but slows in some areas. Im just waiting for 4070 ti uper to be released before i buy new comp now.
Amd is officially intel v2
Like what things do we use today that uses AI? You say they are currently being done with the CPU. This upgrade will offload those tasks to the NPU, you say. What are we doing that uses AI? Windows? What apps?
These companies are so annoying.
Indeed some bargains – 60% off on a 7000 series laptop with an RTX 2050 GPU when it was on sale in NZ… Buying a 6/12 APU, with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM and a separate GPU for under $1k NZ was IMO a deal…
Maybe i will be interrsted in npu if there’s 5-6th gen of this but for now…
is that possible to use igpu and dgpu for ai related tasks uh
So I'm assuming that homeboy here knows nothing about AI and has never heard of Microsoft co-pilot and how Microsoft wants to integrate AI I into the very operating system of Windows itself, 😂
I stepped up from a 3400G to a 8700G know more Vega graphics RDNA 3 instead.I skipped over the 5600G and 5700G,this should be a good rebuild still 65 watts can run 24/7 with out running up the electric bill any more and still get better graphics.
Noob question, but wouldnt you want AI capabilities of the cpu with the AI capabilites that gpus are about to release with?
I wanna "Weird Science" a hot gf
the thing I appreciate is that not many laptops w 7040u laptops and now i walked into best buy and saw a bunch of new 8040u laptops which i think is amazing for new ryzen laptops sknce a lot of the u series laptops were zen3 while yhe 7040 laptops were mostly put into gaming laptops are 7040hs series laptops
idk all i know is i play wow mainly and it says its built in gpu is better than my 5700xt by at least double the fps i get my 144fps pretty easy but they said 500 plus in 1080p which is what I use lmao if I can play what I am not but better for just a cpu only damn is all I can say.
I made the mistake buying a device that had the 8840u
Not even interested in using AI as its for gaming and music production.
i hope amd has a non x3d 9000 series when made
Hi should i wait for zen 5 or just go for this?
I am definitely liking my HP EliteBook 835 G10 7840U/32GB/5G 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, as an upgrade to EliteBook 5850U/16GB/1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus, and am definitely gonna skip the 8xxx, being only AI/NPU upgrade; let's see what 9xxx, or even 10xxx, has to bring and maybe by that time offline AI will play a bigger part in daily productivity, especially also in Linux world. If I am not mistaken I think only Windows 11 24H2 will implement the Ryzen AI.
It's best to wait for ryzen 9000, if you've missed the boat.
AMD is role playing the rabbit taking a nap
I can see a ton of these 8000 series chips being found in Minipc's next year.
I just want a good high end X3D for my Pc 😢
Marketing scam
